so i went to see the booth...*shakes head*...why do i end up in the booth voted most likely to hold the next penicillin?...i mean, there are more kinds of mold and spores and fungus growing on the ceiling than i think i have ever seen in one place...my own private petri dish.

things that are good:

  • the floor space. much better sales area, lots of frontage.
  • the location. near one of the major pubs and the most popular stage.
  • solidly built floor, and a nifty sales counter.

things that suck:

  • there is a second floor, but you just cant get there. theres no staircase!
  • because of this, the upstairs was never really finished and exposed to the elements and whatever beasties wanted to stay there. (and this year im sure its not mr. squeeky the sugar glider)
  • the back room. the ceiling here is where the petri dish comes in. ick. double ick. because the second floor doesnt come all the way back so the ceiling of the back room is exposed to rain, and its only plywood...i dont think there is even any tar paper or whatnot.
  • major leak on the sales floor. probably because the roof is 2-3 inches shy of meeting the wall. not kidding.
  • lots of bugs and spiders. hornets too...not a huge deal, but still, millions of dead ladybugs are not fun to clean up.
  • did i mention theres no stairs to the second floor?...that means i cant sleep there. though without major improvements, i cant sleep there anyway.

those are the basic things...without going to the upstairs i have no way of knowing what its like up there.  im kind of scared to find out.

the sad part is, when gyllian goes to fix things, he does it as cheap as possible, instead of as good as possible.  he doesnt necessarily do it right the first time.  which sucks.  i understand his need to be frugal with cash...but if thats the case, cut down on the food budget already.  if i need to sleep in this booth, i am not doing it in the back room. frrankly my air mattress doesnt even fit back there.  and his big idea is that i sleep on the sales floor and move my mattress in the morning..no way! thats way more pain in the ass than i need on a faire day.  and wheres all my stuff gonna go?..cause if im living on site, i need to get my stuff from sunshine's and there isnt place enough to put it.

i really hope i dont get screwed on this whole deal...not when im freaking out enough over what to do with my future and where im going to be working.  i know there are a whole set of frustrations for working for eeldrytch, but usually they are minimal.  and since im not living with them anymore there are a lot of things that should be better. we shall see.

gyllian and aaron are due to be on site by friday to look at the booth and drop stock and do repairs...i dont know if theyll stay longer than friday, but i need to be back at work on satyrday. presuming i have a car back by then. (which is todays mission)

well, i have to go to the bank and shower and do some grocery shopping...then leave for work by 3. oh joy!

Miss you lots and lots!!

Eh, reminds me of when I helped clean out the Moresca booth when the ex was working there...year-old pizza boxes with yummy petrified cheeze in 'em, assorted filth, dead bugs, and a mummified squirrel. Just the place ya wanna relax in after a hard day of fleecing the rubes! :-p

Can't they get you a ladder to use at the very least to get to the 2nd floor?

im not so good on ladders. and a staircase is better for bringing stuff up and down. and i dont think a ladder is approved in a building code anyway...
*shrug* just have to wait and see what they do.

I'm certainly quite behind on all this, and very ignorant of the whole situation, but it seems the second floor certainly looks like the key to me. Maybe even one of those pull down staircases that people use in attics.

Hope things get sorted out.
