i had my friend at the record company look up sales for GnR's new one out of curiosity. apparently they sold 261,161 copies in a week, charting them at #3. not bad, but not really great either. in this day and age though....*shrug*
but i wonder out of that many sold how many bought it for the train wreck aspect.

i plan to ask her next week how far it dropped in sales, again, just to see if they have any kind of staying power anymore.

and speaking of curious....

[Poll #1308843]

EDIT:
dammit....no one has yet been brave enough to say they bought it...which means those of us waiting to borrow it might have to wait a while. hahahaha.

next weeks drop will make all the difference.

Chinese Piracy, here.

I love how everyone is saying it's been 17 years since GNR released anything. They apparently forgot about "The Spaghetti Incident?" (as did anyone with taste and common sense)

How about a "no opinion?" choice? "who cares?" seems a bit too dismissive of those who do care.

yeah, that occurred to me afterwards. oh well.
i dont really think it's a big deal...i just think its funny that there was so much lead up to the release and i was wondering if it was even remotely worth it.

I figure I'll hear it eventually, whatever I do, so there's no need to take any actual initiative to get it.

ive heard a little here and there.. not THAT bad, but not worth the ten year wait. After that much time and effort, I expect a lot more coming forth. ( note I didnt say I expected a lot more of Axl Rose. Of him, I have no expectations)
Might be worth a random ganking off the internet at best.. just my .02

I've heard a half-dozen cuts on the radio, and A) Axl Rose's caterwauling does not make a band G-N-R, and B) the songs aren't that remarkable for any band, much less quote-endquote Guns N' Roses. Seventeen years for this? Feh.

I bought it, but for my Dad, lol. How's that for sad? They genuinely appeal to men who remember the GnR heyday... the rest of us it's for the trainwreck ;)

No, no they don't. And I've only heard one or two songs.

I listened to previews on iTunes and wasn't impressed.

There's only so long you wait dressed up for your date to show up; after that, you make other plans.
Sorry, Axl Rose... I wound up going to that Thai restaurant. It's not you, it's me...
That's a lie, Axl. It's you.

Aside from one or two songs, I was never much of a GnR fan. My 46 yr old brother bought that disc (they were more his "generation" anyway0. It was almost as bad as listening to the Rolling Stones when they were on their "Viagra and Geritol" tour, singing about teenage angst while in your 60's. *sighs*
