Have you followed the antics of ImprovEverywhere? They do some wonderful, surreal stuff!
This episode of This American Life has a long interview with one of the ImprovEverywhere guys about the time they pretended to be rabid fans of an obscure band. They also talked about some others, including my favorite, the Starbucks time loop.
I am not sure if it was them or a dif group, but my friend casey went to NYC for something where hundreds of people listened to a recording on their ipods and followed the instructions in central park, which including interacting w/ strangers, creating different objetcs, etc. Casey could give ya the details.
