spontaneous combustion
Nov. 15th, 2007 10:14 pmher arm lingers over her head
a final pose, the shell of meat open to the world
she has burned from within
being contained was never her best trick
still she dreams of sin and greed
still she sings words to heaven
the fuel of her insides has ended
she inhales and helps the heat
the smoldering that used to be, the ash of what is to come
her eyes still cold and blue
she is folded, curved-in bone and burn
sparks from her mouth leading the way to salvation
edging the dried out words she licks from her chapped lips
the molecules of her meat released and scorched into the earth
she wants to get back
she wants water again
there is no moisture here
