EDIT:
i put an offer in to see about the aveo. if he can fulfill my request, then i'll have a new vehicle.

***************************************

tonights conundrum:

do i refinance my 19% car loan for a lovely 8% 4 year loan and keep my 67000 miles monte carlo which is creeping up on a mileage point where things could go horribly wrong...?

or

do i make an offer on a 2006 chevy aveo hatchback with 10000 miles and some warranty left which is significantly less pimpy but better slightly on gas mileage...?
considering its the end of the month, i believe i can get a great price for it.

Is there any way you can get away with shuffling cars and not having a car payment? I'd opt for that.

Really.

(I am no fun, I know this ;)

And believe me, I know how pimpy a 1994 Honda Accord Wagon (predates the modern soccer mom!) really is. Especially when it's over a quarter million miles.

probably not. those are the two choices for now.
unless someone wants to by the monte for $12000.

which is unlikely.

How much negative equity would you be rolling into the load (which I'm assuming is at 8%) for the Aveo? Are you going through a dealer? Get a better rate. I went through bankruptcy and a few months later got something like 5.74%. End of month, they always want to make a deal. That's when I did mine.

All in all, you're better off with the more reliable, less cost to own Aveo than the pimpier gas guzzling Monte Carlo. Long run, you'll save money and possibly get ahead on payments so y ou're not dealing with negative equity in the future. This is especially important if you're going to be driving a lot.

yup....thats why i'm thinking this is a good thing. i demanded a rate lower than 10% (cause honestly, my credit is still being repaired...) and pretty much wanted them to figure out a way to make my payments $200/month so i can pay it off faster.

i'll miss my sunroof. i'll miss the steering wheel audio controls. but i wont miss the hassle i've had with it and it's stoopid electrcical issues.
