four dark and early days
Jan. 11th, 2005 01:43 pmthursday morning i wake up at the luscious hour of 3am to start my work day. der. to say the least. but i pedaled my way in to work passing by the folks just leaving the bars...i think to myself "to them its still wednesday"...for me, thursday. eep!
so most of what i was hired to do is prevent pedestrians and cars from entering the streets while filming. so out of ten people, 1 would be pissed, 3 would stand to watch, 1 walk around, and the rest ask if they could be in the movie. i was tired of saying the same thing every time. but there was breakfast....there was lunch...it was a long day.
friday starts out foggy and rainy. but we p.a.'s head out into the breech and defend our corners with pride. this is in preparation for a helicopter shot...which then gets pushed back when the clouds still dont burn away. my group is given a break until needed which turned out to be after lunch. so lots of sit down time.
and forget johnny knoxville, ill take his stunt double any day...mmmmm.
satyrday was the best day thus far. got to be placed right where i could see a kick ass camera shot take place. got a scrap piece of the general lee, and from the mirror. took my obligatory dork picture of the general lee. got transferred to a new group which meant i got more than four days of work, i got all six.
at wrap i helped to move some stuff and was bought a beer afterwards. after that the man who hired me proceeded to hit on me. needless to say, i had to brush him off and explain to him that my career was more important to me right now. which is too bad, since hes a good looking man. oh well, i said i wouldnt let men fuck up my dreams anymore and im sticking to it. and apparently hes cool about it. whew. it could have gone very wrong.
did get to meet john waters. that was pretty cool.
by sunday, i felt like road sludge...pooped from not enough sleep and long days standing up. not quite as active either. but i managed top be around when needed and hung out with some other cool p.a.'s...then got to see some more cool car stunts. woot!
there was a wrap party at the bar and the beer was good. next weekend, the first unit is on the scene and ill get to see all the stars...
in other news, ive called a credit place to help me pay everyone off. with any luck i can be out of debt in 4 years.
no word from l.a., but ill be calling today to try and get an interview.
also have some contacts to look into from a guy on set who said i can use his name. which is pretty cool. must find more work so i can get out of this shit hole!
wish i had time to keep up, but gotta go get my laundry out of the dryer...
smootchies!
