but i cant. besides, it was "no sugar added egg nog flavored fat free milk" and it was nasty. but with a diabetic mom and myself who spent last week losing the battle for healthy eating, we figured thats what we should get. let me tell you, never again. yecch! next xmas, i'm getting the real deal, no if's and's and in spite of the butts.
as expected the office is nearly dead. i am armed with a coffee, music, and a fruit cup. the morning has been spent doing some net surfing. i'll probably buckle down post lunch and figure out just what i can do this week. a blissful boss free week. though i'm sure she'll call in once a day or so.
i also have a sinus headache. where the fuck did that come from? maybe i'm allergic to the holidays. my brother is....not a word from him about xmas....no package...a measley donation to mom's xmas tv, (yeah, i'll take it)....but what a scrooge he's become.
besides my xmas eve abandonment, my holiday was alright. mom loved her homemade crocheted scarf. the boy seemed to like his stuff. my dad liked the stuff i got for him.
i got an MP3 player. it's not an iPod. it holds 500 songs. we already opened it. but i'm thinking i should maybe try to get one with more memory. anyone think i should try for the iPod anyway? for comparison notes, i got a SanDisk Sansa e250R. if anyone has advice on this issue, let me know. before i buy all the accessories. and again, it might not matter, since we opened it. der.
i guess this means i have to learn how to use it...eep!
now for new years....but i have no idea what we're doing.

Date: 2006-12-27 05:02 pm (UTC)the zune looks cool, but i think it's making it's debut several years too late to be worthwhile.

Date: 2006-12-26 05:53 pm (UTC)mp3 player vs ipod i have an ipod and love it!! some of the mp3 players out there are limited on what they will interface with music program wise on puter. i like itunes and was using it long before i got the pod. it is a great easy to use program and the music store is very good. ipods pretty durable too. i tend to break things even things that should not be breakable. i have mine about 3-4 yrs i think and it is still going no tape or repairs. did not seem to have batery prob and after i got the interface installed im my car radio stations are a thing of the past.
kk that is my 2 cents only other thing is there is all kinds of funky little toys for the pod like a mic so you can use as a tape recorder, fm transmiter for car if no hard wire, and lots of silly things like holders and such. silly is good silly is fun
merry merry babe and happy new year

Date: 2006-12-26 09:32 pm (UTC)The Sansa does have expandable memory up to 8gb, giving it more potential storage then the ipod nano. It can also do video and pictures, although it looks like it uses a propriatary format for them so you'd have to convert 'em. I'm not a big fan of Rhapsody personally, but thats the audiophile in me talking ;)
I shopped 'em around quite a bit this year (got teh wife a nano for xmas), and personally would recomend the ipod if given an easy choice. The Sansa deffinently has its perks, though, and can be upgraded for more storage then an ipod nano if thats the main thing you're concerned about.

Date: 2006-12-27 06:00 pm (UTC)As for the storage space, I honestly don't see a need for the 30+ gb ipods unless you're going to be away from a computer for extended amounts of time on a regular basis. the 4gb ipod we got will hold about 700 songs at a time, which is more then enough imo. The physical size and loosability issues, though.. that is deffinently one of the perks of the full-size ipods verses the nano, but at the same time the full-size ipods have more moving parts (mini harddrives instead of flash cards for storage) and tend to be more fragile.
Deffinently a lot to consider.. eheh

Date: 2006-12-26 10:30 pm (UTC)Also, I would KILL for an FM radio tuner in my Ipod right now. That's only for another week, as I get the DVD player and don't have to rely on the crap on the TVS at the gym. *wheeee*
it's doable for you, a nano or a mini wouldn't necessarily have any more room. I'm a size queen - my 40 gig was big at the time, I haven't nearly filled it yet, but it also tempts me to put TOO much on, and good luck finding anything.
I'm happy to help you shop if you want. I'm going to Microcenter to get a DVD drive, I'll price the memory cards for you.

Date: 2006-12-27 02:31 pm (UTC)my issue with size isnt necessarily the amount of songs but the size of the product. this thing is soooo tiny i feel like i'll use it. i'm thinking spend an extra $100 for the 30G iPod....then i can do videos too. the fm tuner is cool, but i'm not sure how often i'd use it. the expandable memory is also a plus, but in the long run, it might just be better to have the 30G maybe.
the other plus to the iPod is that it's more likely to have a better variety of accessories and music. and i already have iTunes on the work computer. with craploads of music and mixes already on here.
*sigh*
this is probably why i never bought one for myself....too much to consider...
